Asylum seekers deported from Cocos Islands arrested by Sri Lankan police

Source

SUMMARY

The 12 Sri Lankan asylum seekers deported from Australia’s Cocos Islands have been arrested and taken into Colombo.

The group, which was composed by a woman, one child, and one infant, flown back from the islands overnight on Thursday.

The Australian government has declined to comment on the arrival of the asylum-seeker boat at Cocos, or the group’s rapid forced removal, saying only “the government does not comment on on-water matters”.

They could be back in Sri Lanka
Sri Lankan confirm they have been removed.
The group was into the custody of the criminal investigation department of the Sri Lanka police

Lakshman Soysa, an immigration media spokesman, told that in Sri Lanka all of the deportees had been arrested and they are under  the Criminal Investigation Department.

Normally, asylum seekers who are returned to Sri Lanka are under  police custody or integrate in  Negombo prison. Some spend weeks, or even months in jail, and the fines can be up to 100,000 rupees ($A930).
The asylum-seeker boat arrived on Monday, before being met by the Customs vessel Ocean Protector.

In 2014, after Australia returned 41 Sri Lankan asylum seekers intercepted at sea, the UNHCR said the assessment process was unlawful under international law.

PERSONAL OPINION

In my opinion, I think that everybody needs to have a chance even if the people who need that are from Sri Lanka or NY! The right to asylum is a human right and I think it is unfair that the seekers would go to prison only for search a better country to live.
But, On the other hand I understand Austria for report the seekers; If they accept all who want to work there without any legal document this country wouldn't work.

My THG fanfiction

I have a watpadd account and I really use often this app. During the past September I made a fan fiction what talks about The Hunger Games.

In particular, This fan fiction talks about another-epilogue-version of Mockingjay because I didn't liked the "official" version so I made my own version! In this version Katniss is with Peeta and has 2 sons in District 12 but his life hasn't change very much, of course that now se has different priorities but she is still enjoining some hunting outing. So my fan fiction explains her hunting day but while she is remembering the old Katniss and suddenly Gale appears.

I didn't write this fan fiction for views or comment or something like that, I really enjoyed writing that and since November the fan fiction's views start growing and now I have like 400 views.

This one-shoot fan fiction is in catalan but I've made another version with spanish and it have some good comments to!!

While my fan fiction was growing I started receiving come good comments like...
M'encanta!!! M'agrada més aquest epíleg que el del mateix llibre!!!

The 5th Wave: Book comparison

Last week I've seen The 5th Wave, the movie based on the book made by Rick Yancey. I don't want to do a Film review but I'm going to of a Book-Film Comparison! Yeeeey!!!

Well, First of all I LOOOOOVEEE the movie but I'm not really keen on Ben; he was supposed to be uglier! I mean, during his stay at the camp he was like a zombie! not like a "handsome"-teenager (Now I'll explain why I put " on handsome) He is suppose to be the typical  popular handsome guy but please look at him.
I know that Cassie was in love with him but I still don't like him!

I really enjoy Evan's appearance but there are some changes, for examples; Evan was who shoot Cassie at the road part, also the part in the barn is missing (but this part isn't necessary so no problem), also the Evan's bath part isn't on the book but I like it very much.
Also I really missed the part where Evan says to Cassie <<you are my mayfly>> It is one of my favorite quotes of all this series of books and I was really disappointed when this phrase didn't appeared, because this quote means everything, this quote represents Evan and Cassie's love!

I really like all the actors, specially Sam! He is so incredible cute!! And is like how was described on the books; with his fluffy-cute-brown teddy bear. (This bear appears on the photo). But when Cassie returns to the base and returns the bear to Sam on the books he doesn't accept it but it does on the movie, and because that you can't really get what the others did to Sam.
And all the Zombie's team because they were really how they were on the books; Teapot is the little cute-rude little girl and Ringer: That rude girl who is who shoot better of all the team but also she is the chess genius, Ringer is so intelligent and concording to that she is who discovers the function of the "Chip".
Okay, now is Cassie's turn, I really like Chloë's performance! She was really like Book's Cassie!! Also her behavior was so credible!
In conclusion, I really enjoyed this movie and I think is a very good adaptation!!!

The Revenant: Review

Last week I saw The Revenant, the exiting movie that gave Leo the Oscar. But first of all, as Wikipedia said "The Revenant is a 2015 American survival film directed, co-produced and co-written by Alejandro G. Iñárritu". Also, this movie is based in part on Michael Punke's novel, inspired on Hugh Glass's life in 1823.
"The Revenant won three Golden Globe Awards, five BAFTA Awards, and at the 88th Academy Awards, Iñárritu, DiCaprio and Emmanuel Lubezki won the awards for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Cinematography, respectively. DiCaprio also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor" as wikipedia said

The movie starts with an incredible "screen shoot" of an incredible landscape of some-winter-place, where appear the main characters while are hunting because they want the fur of animals (caribous for example). While Glass and his half-Pawnee son Hawk are hunting, an hostile Arikara group attack the rest of Glass's team and the survivors are being forced to abandon the pelts they’d collected.

The survivors go inside the boat so they run away using the river. All goes wrong with Glass, when he suffers a attack caused by an incredible  grizzly bear and her cubs. He tries to kill the bear and surprisingly he can but Glass is badly injured. Without medical attention available, Henry(the captain)  offers money for anyone to stay behind with Glass in case he recovers or dies. The only volunteers are Hawk(Glass's son) and the young Jim Bridger, Fitzgerald eventually agrees to stay because he wants to recover some money because the abandoned pelts. Henry makes Fitzgerald promise that if Glass dies, he will give him a decent burial.

After the young boy leaves,  Fitzgerald attempts to kill Glass ( Glass agreed), but he is stopped by Hawk. Hawk tries to call for help, but Fitzgerald stabs the boy in front of his father. Fitzgerald hides Hawk’s body before Jim returns to the camp. Glass can do nothing but watch. The next morning, Fitzgerald wakes Jim and tells him that a party of Arikara are surrounding them, and left the camp, they drop Glass into a grave and abandon him.
When Fitzgerald and Jim meet up with the Captain at Fort Kiowa, Fitzgerald tells him that  they were unable to save Glass and that Hawk is missing. In gratitude of their service, Henry pays both men but  Bridger refuses the money. Glass starts to move  first by crawling, then walking. He performs a self-surgery to heal his injuries (with fire and powder) while attempting to elude the Arikara. The Arikara captain is searching for his daughter, Powaqa, who was kidnapped by white men.
After escaping the Arikara, Glass meets a Pawnee refugee named Hikuc. After one night,  Glass awakes and discovers Hikuc has been hanged by a group of French colonists. Glass discovers they are responsible for Powaqa’s rape. Glass is pursued by the Arikara and is driven over a cliff. His horse dies in the fall and an Glass uses his body for sleep inside it.

A  survivor of the French comes into Fort Kiowa, where he is questioned about the attack on his men. He reveals he is carrying his attacker’s canteen (which Bridger recognizes it). Fitzgerald, knowing that Glass is the only person who could have the flask, escapes to Texas. The search party finds Glass. When the party returns to the fort, they find that Fitzgerald has escape.
Finally Henry and Glass search Fitzgerald, but Fitzgerald ambushes Henry and shoots him. Glass finds Fitzgerald and kill him so he pushes Fitzgerald into the river just as the Arikara appears. Arikaria's boss scalps and kills Fitzgerald.

I really enjoyed this movie but it is not my favourite movie. But of course that I really enjoy Leo's character and all his incredible scenes.
Another part of the movie that I like is the incredible landscapes and all the animals. And obviously I LOVED the scene with the bear.

8/10

Human Rights

1- What are the human rights?

Are the rights you have simply for be a human, "They are commonly understood as inalienable fundamental rights "to which a person is inherently entitled simply because she or he is a human being," and which are "inherent in all human beings"[regardless of their nation, location, language, religion, ethnic origin or any other status" according to Wikipedia

2-How many are there?

3- When and where they were invented?

1945 on New York

4- What is the origin of human rights?

1- No rights
2- Cyrus Cylinder
3- Natural law
4- Magna Carta
5- American Constitution
6-French revolution
7-Natural rights
8- Napoleon defeat
9-Ghandi
10-World Wars
11- United Nations

5. Which human right are you going to dig deeper?
Watch the video of the human right you choose .  Make a list of new words you hear, if any. Think of an example where this human right is respected and where it is violated.

"Article 4.

No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms."
I think that this human right isn't respected on undeveloped countris like China when the big companies force to the local population to work there, and of course, they don't have a decent salary. It's a Shame. And unfortunatelly there are a lot of human trade what include sexual trade too.

But luckily on developed countries this human right is respected! But now because of Crisis it hasn't been respected very much. For example. For example, now, some people work so hard and so many hours for the minimum salary.

Here are some good news about these problems

Germany: Prosecuting Satirist Mocks Freedom of Speech

link

SUMMARY:

German authorities should defend freedom of speech, even if the contents of the speech are offensive to some, Human Rights Watch said today; prosecutors would be allowed to pursue charges against a German satirist who wrote a highly offensive poem about Erdoğan. Merkel said that article 103 of Germany’s criminal code which says that it is illegal to insult foreign heads of state, and the penalty can be 5 years of prison. Merkel would propose to remove it from the criminal code by 2018.

Jan, the man who wrote the poem, admitted the poem was offensive and said he was trying to test the limits of free speech.

Freedom of expression is protected under Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights. In line with the case law of the European Court, criminalizing the kind of offending speech involved in this case violates freedom of expression as it is neither necessary not proportionate.

PERSONAL OPINION:

In my opinion, I think that human rights, in this case freedom of speech, need to be respected and it is obvious that these right aren't always respected. Also, freedom of speech is so susceptible because some politicians use demagogy for avoid this right.

NEWS: HUMAN RIGHTS

link

According to the International Labour Organisation there are 260 million children working around the world, and 170 million of them are engaged in child labour. Of course that Child labour is forbidden but in most of underdeveloped countries this is a usual practice.
But the situation is improving; child labour  figures have dropped by a 30%.

This modern slavery exists because, according to the guardian, fast fashion has engendered a race to the bottom, pushing companies to find ever-cheaper sources of labour. There are so many girls, usually in India, that are being lied to by the big companies with fake promises; they promise them a decent home, food and a good salary, but of course none of this is true.

Most of children who work in this factories are under 15, because in cotton's factories they are more useful because they have tiny fingers.

COMMENT:

In my opinion, I Think all this is society's fault because in these undeveloped countries the capitalism is very hard, and because nobody protects the lower class; all this is caused by the first world enterprises which want more productivity and a lower price. If the governments of these countries don't act, this will keep happening, but who cares if the children are slaved if the big fish can keep making money?
Actually, this doesn't happen in our country but we should do something for help, but obviously we need to be together.
